The Purpose Of Life Is To Have A Life Purpose — AffiDavids

In 1973 I started on a fast which has lasted to the present time. That makes it 38 years on a regime that has rewarded me with good health, great financial benefits and a foundation of financial well being that could not have been created any other way. I will be speaking on this system of fasting from paying retail prices on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Abe Lee Toastmasters Club.

Creating A Muli-Option Life

Your life is a composition of millions of choices you make to create the life that you have. When you perceive multiple options for you health, wealth and love arenas of life, you become empowered and make wise choices. When you perceive living a “no choice” life that you have been dealt, you become powerless and may make poor choices. Create a life of many choices for each of the health, wealth & love arenas and your will live a life of purpose and power.

The Power of Frugality

Many people are struggling with finances with the economic downturn. As a “frugalist” (one who embraces frugality), I wonder if they had been a frugalist too if that would have made any difference in their financial situation now. Being debt free has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life. After I went through the $2 million seminar with my former wife, I began to see clearly that my finances were a creation of my money choices and my money choices were triggered by my money mindset. I will be writing more about this in the weeks ahead and plan to write something daily to help those who are open to a new way of interfacing with money – making, spending & saving. Stay tuned as my goal is to present these ideas in a gentle but clear fashion that will open to your minds to a new way of thinking and living.

The power of giving

Giving is powerful. Many people will attempt to prevent you from taking, yet no one can stop you from giving as much as you wish.Give, and you increase the value that flows through your life. Give of yourself, and you make yourself stronger.

Every time you interact with someone else, you have the opportunity to give that person some kind of value. Whether it is a thing, or a thought, a gesture or a kind word, the most powerful gifts are those that come straight from the heart.

Many will appreciate your gifts and some will not, but that is not the point. For it is the sincere act of giving, not how the gift is received, that brings value and goodness to your world.

As you give more and more, you have more to give. As the joy of giving flows out from you, new richness fills your life.

Each moment is an opportunity to engage the beautiful, loving power of giving. Give your best and you’ll get even better.

– Ralph Marston

Did You Know:

During the next couple of weeks we will be looking at ways to stop us from being ripped off while using our credit cards:

1.     Don’t sign your card with your signature, instead write the following in the signature block “PHOTO-ID REQUIRED”. This may be a slight inconvenience to you, but it can make the card almost useless should it be stolen or lost.

2.     Make a photo copy of the front and back of all documents and cards in your purse or wallet and place the copies in a safe place. This will allow you to more readily cancel cards and replace valuable documents.

3.     Now, if your purse or wallet is stolen, below are the numbers you always need to contact:

a.     Equifax: 1-800-525-6285

b.    Experian (formerly TRW): 1-888-397-3742

c.     Trans Union : 1-800-680-7289

Live now

Let go of the need for things to be a particular way, and enjoy life just as it is. Let go of the assumption that you must always have something more, and find true enjoyment in all that is already in your life.Dream big, meaningful dreams and make detailed, effective plans for bringing those dreams about. Live forward toward those dreams, but don’t ever postpone your enjoyment of life.

You are worthy of the very best that is in this moment, so fully accept it and experience it. This moment is worthy of the best that’s within you, so generously give of yourself.

Live the value that is your life right now. Even in the most ordinary moments, life is as rich and fulfilling as you choose to make it.

If you’re always waiting for later, or for things to get better, you’ll miss out on the very opportunities that will lift you ever higher. Instead, have confidence in the value of where you now are and what you now have.

Live now, and live as if you are the richest person who has ever lived. Because when you do, you are.

Think and Grow Rich “It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.” – Anthony Robbins

Times of great consequence

Is there something that has you troubled, concerned or discouraged? That very same situation can just as realistically cause you to be hopeful and encouraged and positively successful. The future has not happened yet, and the way it will unfold is completely open. Where there is the possibility for defeat and failure there is also the possibility for success and improvement.

Where much is at risk of being lost, there is much that can be gained. Times of great consequence are times of great opportunity.

Just imagine what would happen if you could turn your perspective around. Just imagine it, and know that’s precisely what you can do.

You can make the decision to create the most positive outcome. You can make the commitment to focus the energy of the situation in a creative and productive direction.

Instead of turning your eyes away from the difficulty, open your eyes to the powerful opportunity. Choose to envision your own best outcome, then choose to do whatever is necessary to make it happen.

Not too late

It’s never too late to richly live the moment you’re in. Don’t let regrets about the past destroy the unique opportunity you have right now.Do you feel frustrated by your lack of progress? Then tap into the energy of that frustration to bring yourself fully to life in this moment that you now have to work with.

Today, you are more experienced and knowledgeable than you’ve ever been. Today, you can be more motivated than ever before to reach in and connect with your own special goodness.

And today you can put all of what you have into making real and positive progress. Today you can connect in a new and fulfilling way with what matters most.

You’ve already made an amazing journey to get to this moment. You’ve brought yourself here for a reason, so let yourself live that reason.

Make life the best it can be right now by doing something truly meaningful with it. Whatever you’ve come through, wherever you’ve been, it is never too late to feel the beautiful joy of being alive and making a difference.

Living for Ourselves

Trying to Please Others

http://www.dailyom.com/articles/2010/26337.html

We don’t need to live seeking approval from our parents or others; this can be overcome no matter what your age.

Most of us come to a point in our lives when we question why we are doing what we are doing, and many of us come to realize that we may be living our lives in an effort to make our parents happy. This realization can dawn when we are in our 20s, our 40s, or even later, depending upon how tight a hold our family of origin has on our psyche. We may feel shocked or depressed by this information, but we can trust that it is coming to us at this time because we are ready to find out what it would mean to live our lives for ourselves, following the call of our own soul, and refusing any longer to be beholden to someone else’s expectations.

One of the most common reasons we are so tied into making our parents, or others, happy, is that we were not properly mirrored when we were children. We were not honored as individuals in our own right, with a will and purpose of our own, to be determined by our own unfolding. As a result, we learned to look outside of ourselves for approval, support, and direction rather than look within. The good news is that the part of us that was not adequately nurtured is still there, inside us, like a seed that has not yet received the sunlight and moisture it needs to open and to allow its inner contents to unfurl. It is never too late to provide ourselves with what we need to awaken this inner being.

There are many ways to create a safe container for ourselves so that we can turn within and shine the light of awareness there. We may join a support group, go to therapy, or start a practice of journaling every day for half an hour. This experience of becoming is well worth the difficult work that may be required of us to get there. In whatever process we choose, we may feel worse before we feel better, but we will ultimately find out how to live our lives for ourselves and how to make ourselves happy.

Opportunity of your life

The opportunity of your life

You have opportunity right now, on this very day, that you’ll never have again. Are you going to let it pass you by, or are you going to make full and valuable use of it?The moments that make up this day are moments you can use to solve problems, to develop more effective ways of doing things, and to create value. The moments that make up this day are moments you can be using right now to move your life forward.

Look around you. See and appreciate what a magnificent world you live in and what a tremendous opportunity you have to make a difference.

Within you are dreams that long to be brought to life. Within you is real, substantive, unique value that deserves to be fully expressed and experienced.

With joy in your heart and enthusiasm in your actions, get up right now and get busy living the best of those dreams. There are dozens of creative, productive, life-enhancing things you can do, so focus on the first one and get busy.

The opportunity of your life is here. Live it with all you have.

Prosperity – Divine substance overflows into my life.

Prosperity means many things to many people. To some, prosperity means employment, to others a home, to others more money in the bank. These all signify prosperity, but prosperity is more than outer manifestations. Prosperity is the inner, underlying substance of God that permeates and penetrates all, the substance out of which all things are formed.

Material good is but evidence of the all-providing substance of God. Outer conditions come and go; they fluctuate and change, but the substance of God is enduring and unchanging. It can be depended on at all times, in all circumstances.

I am not anxious about my life, because my good is centered in God and I know my needs will be met.

All these things will be given to you.–Matthew 6:33

Choose A Life That Matters

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end.

There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.

Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.

So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.

It won’t matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived, at the end.

It won’t matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.

So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built;
not what you got, but what you gave.

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence, but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s not a matter of circumstance but of choice.

Choose to live a life that matters.

A Course In Miracles Quote from Marianne Williamson

Quote of the Day
“The perfect you isn’t something you need to create, because God already created it. The perfect you is the love within you. Your job is to allow the Holy Spirit to remove the fearful thinking that surrounds your perfect self.”

Ignite your passion

Ability is about more than skill. Ability is about more than knowledge.Though skill and knowledge and experience are important, there’s something even more powerful that drives ability. It is passion.

If you do not have a strong desire, fueled by passion, it doesn’t really matter how much skill you have. If you lack passion, it doesn’t matter how much experience or knowledge you have.

When you are truly passionate, that brings your skills and knowledge to life. When you are truly passionate, even if you lack sufficient skills you will find a way to acquire them.

Passion compels and enables you to connect with whatever is necessary to express and fulfill that passion. Passion pushes you into action, and supplies the energy for perseverance.

What are the things that ignite your passion? It’s well worth your time and effort to know exactly what they are.

Top 5 Ways to Build a Wonderful Life

Top 5 Ways to Build a Wonderful Life

1. Live Below Your Means

There will always be temptation to forsake the future for immediate gratification. We all want to buy that new piece of technology, treat ourselves to an expensive night on the town, or take out a loan for the flashy car we can’t afford. It might feel great at the time but rash spending hurts a lot later on.

Enjoy life’s simple pleasures and save as much as you can. Expensive things don’t create lasting happiness and security. Careful spending will bring you greater leisure and enjoyment in the long run.

2. Put Your Money to Work

Saving is great, but to make the most of your money you need to put it to work. Good investments can be the difference between retiring in your 40?s or in your 60?s.

A post today at The Simple Dollar really got me thinking. According to Trent’s projections, if a person in their early 20?s invests 20% of their income in an S&P index fund, the interest they earn will equal their current salary when they reach their early 40?s. They could retire without a drop in income!

Wise investing is the surest path to financial independence and it’s something everyone can work on. It’s definitely an area I’ll be devoting more attention to in my personal life and on this blog.

3. Educate Yourself

To be happy we need continuous growth. The best way to grow is life long education. This doesn’t mean you need to pursue a doctorate or spend 2 hours reading every day. Self education can be anything that takes you out of your comfort zone. The important part is keeping an open mind and searching for fresh ideas and perspectives.

Education builds over time. It might feel like the bits of wisdom you acquire don’t mean much, but over the years they add up to form a wiser, kinder, more interesting person.

4. Develop Lasting Personal Relationships

Suppose you had everything you wanted. Would you be happy without anyone to share it with? The personal relationships we develop with friends and family members are the greatest source of happiness in our lives. Don’t forget about them.

Taking the time to cultivate and enjoy personal relationships is essential to longterm happiness. Without the people you care about you’ll probably be miserable, no matter how successful you become.

5. Work Towards a Dream You’re Passionate About

Even if your life isn’t perfect, you can always build towards a goal you’re passionate about. If you aren’t building towards something, you’re probably stagnating. When this happens to me I start to feel like a victim trapped by my own life. The best way to reverse this is working towards a goal.

We can’t control everything about our lives, but working towards a goal gives us something positive to focus on and lays the foundation for future success. No matter what your passion is, get out there and start doing something. As Lao Tzu said, even a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.

Bonus: 6. Stay in Shape

You only get one body. Once it’s been ruined there isn’t much you can do about it. Exercise to keep the rust off. Avoid excessive consumption of damaging substances and unhealthy foods. It may feel like terrible self denial at the time but enjoying good health in your later years is worth the sacrifice.

Understanding Why

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Understanding why

If  you have the desire but lack the skill, the strength of your desire will push you to develop whatever skill you must have. But if you have skill and no desire toward which to use it, that skill won’t do you any good. The desire to achieve is what drives achievement. Other factors are important, yet without sufficient desire the achievement will not happen.

Before you focus on how you will do it, be sure you’re clear about why you must do it. Before you gather the tools and resources, gather your thoughts and feelings about exactly what purpose you intend to fulfill.

Competence and effectiveness come from knowing what and how. The driving energy to persist comes from understanding why.

You must have passion to successfully work through all the obstacles that stand in your way. And that passion comes from purpose.

The most fundamental necessity of any undertaking is to understand why. Once you know why, the power of your purpose will put all the other pieces into place and bring the achievement to life.

Live life now

The joy and fulfillment you seek, are here now for you to experience. If you are not fully present in this moment, when will you ever be? Don’t waste another minute by waiting for conditions to improve. The opportunity to live the best day of your life is here and now.

Embrace this moment just as it is, and taste its richness. Step confidently forward just as you are, and fully live life now.

Obsessing over what could have been or what should have been won’t bring you any value. Following your positive purpose in this moment is what will create value.

You are now free from all the limitations you had imposed on yourself in the past. You can now see your best possibilities and act to fulfill them.

There is so much richness right here and now. Open yourself to the beautiful experience that is yours to fulfill.
